What is this about?
In a recent YouGov poll, 91% of Brits judged that British trains were very/fairly expensive, and this perception is not far off. (source)
The UK branch of the European Federation for Transport and Environment found that Avanti and GWR were amongst the most expensive
rail operators in Europe (source)
Meanwhile, the recently published report by the Office for Rail and Road found that only 69% of trains were on time (within 1 minute) in Q1 of this year (source).
I share the perspective of those Brits. Our trains are too expensive and far too often delayed. We pay a premium price and receive a budget-rail-operator experience.
With this project I aim to show, in real time, the train companies with the greatest number of delays. With this I aim to help give myself and others the sense of which companies have the greatest gap between the prices they offer and the experience they offer.
